The Four Provisions Given by God to Saved Ones (2) — the Spirit
I. The Spirit is the consummation of the Triune God reaching us 1. John 1:1, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. …And the Word became flesh. 2. 1 Corinthians 15:45 So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul”; the last Adam became a life-giving Spirit. 3. John 20:22 And when He had said this, He breathed into them and said to them,
Receive the Holy Spirit.
4. Galatians 3:2 This only I wish to learn from you, Did you receive the Spirit out of the works of law or out of the hearing of faith?
II. The parts of man
1. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2. Acts 24:16 Because of this I also exercise myself to always have a conscience without offense toward God and men.
III. The Spirit with our spirit
1. 1 Corinthians 6:17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.
2. 2 Timothy 4:22 The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.
3. Romans 8:16 The Spirit Himself witnesses with our spirit that we are children of God.
IV. Walking according to the sense of the mingled spirit
1. Romans 8:4 That the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the spirit.
2. Galatians 5:16 But I say, Walk by the Spirit and you shall by no means fulfill the lust of the flesh.
3. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
4. Romans 8:6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit is life and peace.
1) The Last Adam Became a Life-giving Spirit
The last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.
The Lord is the Spirit; the Spirit gives life.
But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.
Oh, we have been joined to the Lord!
We are one spirit with Him.
2) We Praise Thee, O God (#1117)
1. We praise Thee, O God,
For the Spirit of Christ
Who has come to indwell us
And be all our life.
Hallelujah! What a Spirit!
Hallelujah! Within!
Hallelujah! Life abundant
That never shall end!
2. In spirit we sing
Of the One who has come
As the life-giving Spirit
With us to be one.
Hallelujah! This is Jesus,
Hallelujah! Still more,
Hallelujah! He's the Spirit,
Our life evermore.
3. In spirit reborn,
We're being transformed,
And to God's Son completely
We'll soon be conformed.
Hallelujah! Life imparting,
Hallelujah! Transformed,
Hallelujah! Soon transfigured
And to Him conformed!
4. Conformed we will be
As in spirit we feed
On the life of the One
Who knows all that we need.
Hallelujah! Full salvation!
Hallelujah! Our prize!
Hallelujah! So sufficient
For all of our lives.
3) The Love of God and the Grace of Christ
The love of God and the grace of Christ,
And fellowship of the Holy Spirit
Be with you, be with you all,
Be with you all, be with you all.
From the throne of our God and the Lamb,
Flows a river of water of life,
Bright as crystal, reaching man.
