Welcome Meeting Out Line

The Four Provisions Given by God to Saved Ones (3) — the Word

I. The Bible is the Word of God, containing light and life

1. 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

2. John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words which I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

3. Jeremiah 15:16 Your words were found and I ate them, / And Your word became to me / The gladness and joy of my heart, / For I am called by Your name, / O Jehovah, God of hosts.

4. Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, It is written, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out through the mouth of God.”

5. Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet / And a light to my path.

6. 119:130 The opening of Your words gives light, / Imparting understanding to the simple.

II. Our attitude in reading the Bible — to contact God Himself, to receive the life supply, and to receive nourishment

III. The ways to read the Bible

  • Sequentially

  • Only one chapter each time

  • Remembering the main points

  • Receiving inspiration and turning it into prayer

  • Memorizing the precious verses

  • Underlining

  • Not seeking a thorough understanding

  • Musing on the Word

  • Reading according to a schedule

IV. The best time for reading the Bible is in the morning

1. Psalms 119:147-148 I anticipated the dawn and cried out; / I hoped in Your words. My eyes anticipated the night watches, / That I might muse upon Your word.

2. Exodus 16:21 And they gathered it [manna] morning by morning, each one according to his eating; and when the sun became hot, it melted.

3. John 6:48 I am the bread of life.

ABOUT US

Concerning the church, our vision is governed not by the present situation nor by traditional practice, but by God's original intention and by His unchanging standard as revealed in His Word. We regard the New Testament revelation of the church not merely as a historical antecedent, but as the norm for church practice in the present day.
